Hello everybody!
I have a Toshiba Satellite with Win 7 64 bit
Most of the times after pressing the power button the screen remains completely black: no backlight. If I light the screen with a torch i cant see anything but black.
If i plug in a Tv with HDMI it works perfectly.
Sometimes (like once in ten) when i start the pc the screen works fine.
Except this problem, the pc seems to work fine.
The problem arose roughly in the same days I began to connect my Tv to the pc with the HDMI cable, but i dont know if this is related to the problem.
I have a ATI mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series video card.
I tried with uninstalling and reinstalling the video driver, but unsuccessfully.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance and happy new year :)

To me it sounds like the video cable running from the motherboard to the display has a short in it. Honestly not much you can do about that except maybe take your laptop apart and replace the cable. With the older radeon cards, I have noticed that they produce a lot of heat and sometimes that can cause a short in the display cord. I have a laptop with a Radeon HD 3200 graphics processor and I have a plethora of problems with the unit's display.
