Laptop screen won't come back on

My power settings are set so my screen turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity to save battery. However, when my screen turns off I cannot get it back on again without turning the laptop off via the power button and turning it on again. I've tried hitting every key, clicking, pressing the power button, nothing works.

My laptop isn't going to sleep (I have a separate setting for that and the power light shows the laptop is still on), it's just that the screen's turning off. My temporary fix has been to change my settings so the screen never turns off when I leave it unattended but this isn't an ideal solution. Are you on the latest BIOS update for your laptop/notebook/ultrabook? You might also want to double check on the version of your OS(1806?).
