So I have a Toshiba Satellite and just the other day it completely shuts down. So I hit the power button it turns on then completely shuts down again 5 seconds later. So I remove the battery and let it sit over night and try again the next day with the same result. Next I remove the battery and hold down the power button for 60 seconds to completely remove the power then retry with no success.

Now I have completely removed the battery and plugged in the AC adapter and the computer starts up to my home screen in which I am able to a complete virus scan and an AVG tuneup but then the laptop completely shuts down again. So now I'm at this point where I can get to the homepage but at any given time the laptop will completely shut off randomly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Could be that your laptop is overheating.

Download and run a free diagnostic software like speedfan (link below) after your laptop has been off for an hour or so.

Speedfan:http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

You could also try Real Temp if you have an intel processor:

You'll know if it is your CPU overheating if the readings say it is reaching anywhere near 100 degrees celcius.
