My laptop touchpad works very well including multifinger gestures but it doesnt work for single tap. if i repeatedly tap, then it works sometime otherwise single attempt dooesnt work. i reinstalled driver also. my laptop is acer e5 575.

Solution
Check to make sure the sensitivity is not too high, and that it's clean. Test it in Safe Mode and boot off a Linux Live USB boot disk see if it works OK under Linux.
