Laptop Specs for a Comp Science (& program) / Comp Engineering Major?

I don't know what specs I will need on my laptop to use for computer science computer enginneering computer programming majors... I'm planning to double major on computer programming/science and engineering.. Computers ftw!

So yea..

Screen size: preferably 14-15 inch range.
Budget: $1000
OS : Win 7 64bit
Battery: hmm 3 hrs sounds enough.

I will not purchase refurbs or used laptops... because I don't want to take chances...
I need my laptop to last 4 yrs min.
I take good care of my things so I'm sure I can make it last longer.

I don't need blue ray.. if it does have blue ray but the specs are great for my situation, go ahead, recommend it..
