Laptop SSD help

Im helping my dad get a new laptop and i was thinking about putting a ssd in it. But i have little experience with laptops so what OS problems will i have? Do i need to buy another ISO copy? Or is the OS directly tied to the mobo? Im a desktop guy and am just not sure.

You will have to get a new copy of Windows unless you have a copy that you can use multiple times. Other than that, depending on the laptop, you will just have to un screw four screws on the bottom of the laptop and pull out the hard drive. Then, slap the SSD in the laptop and install Windows. I'm a computer technician for a healthcare company, so I've had to do alot of laptop work in my day. It should be easy, my friend. Let me know if you have issues when you do it.

You can choose between different flavors. If you have an ISO of the Windows OS, you can use a program called Windows 7 USB DVD to have it install off a flash drive, or you can burn it to a blank DVD. You can go out and buy a DVD retail copy at any Best Buy or Office Depot.

On the bottom of the laptop should be the activation key. If so, you can download the official Windows 7 ISO from here:

Burn to a DVD, install, and activate with that key printed on the laptop.

Ok, and last question (i hope) do most laptops come with a window 7 disk (laptop: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312896 ) so i can just reload it without buying/torrenting a windows file? and i really don't want to boot it of a flash and really utilize the ssd

No they don't usually. But you do not have to buy, and you really, really, really do not want to torrent that ISO.

See my link above for the official Windows 7 ISOs. Use the existing key to activate.

most laptops will allow u to create a recovery disk or media which would allow a full oem install of the computer as if it was new(as they store the restore files on a hidden hard drive partition). depends on brand but for example hp its an item on the start menu under startmenu/hp/support/recovery disk u should be able to go to the manufatures web site support section for ur labtop on exactly how to do it and what u will need (like 4 cd or 1 dvd or a 8gb usb drive) remember most oem only allow one recovery disk to be created
