laptop starting up problems

I turn my laptop on and the Acer explore beyond limits appears, then 10 or so seconds later it goes black and the Acer explore appears again and then keeps repeating this.

It sounds like your hard drive may well be going, or gone. If you are under warranty, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer. If you aren't under warranty, then you can see about replacing it yourself.
