So lately, my laptop (Clevo W350ET with GTX 660m, Intel HD 4000 integrated, Windows 8.1) has stopped recognizing my dedicated graphics card. I've had it for 2 years, and it's pretty much worked flawlessly until now.
When I look in the device manager, where it previously showed my GTX 660m, it says "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". It also says that the device isn't working, because it can't find the proper drivers (Code 31).
At first, the problem would go away with a reboot. The GTX 660m would again be listed in the device manager, working as usual. But since yesterday, this fix has stopped working.
This seems to be a driver issue, considering GPU-Z finds the card (although under the name "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", but the nVIDIA-logo is there and all the specs seem correct). I tried installing new drivers (old ones as well as new ones), uninstalling the old ones with and without Driver Sweeper, but the installation wouldn't even run saying that my system isn't compatible with the drivers (which simply isn't true). I even did a complete factory restore and it still won't work.
I've also reset to default settings in BIOS, still no luck. I don't know what to do.
What's weird though is that sometimes the GTX 660m will randomly show up in the device manager and work as usual, but after the laptop has been shut down or restarted, the problem returns.
Does anyone have any clue what to do?
