Laptop troubleshooting

I'm currently trying to help a friend out with her laptop. Its a Dell Inspiron PP12L. Current issue is the monitor is not working. I'm just trying to save her documents and pictures. I've tried to hook up a monitor to the laptop(which i figured wouldnt work because I know on my current laptop its a option you'd have to be logged into windows to do). Any other ideas how I can get ahold of the files on her hard drive?

Hello bweliky;

The best way is to remove the hard drive from the laptop and attach it to a PC.
You can then access the files as a 2nd hard drive.

PP12L does not seem to be a Dell Inspiron model number.
