Between these three video cards what one is the best in your opinion?

-Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT SLI (Video Meomory: 512MB + up to 1g...bascially)

-nVidia GeForce 9500M GS (Video Memory: 512MB Dedicated + Up to 768MB of shared memory)

-ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2400 XT (Video Memory: 256MB)

I'm still learning but I dont see much of the difference between the Nvidia Ge 8600GS and the Nvidia Ge 9500 GS. Is the Nvidia Ge 8600GT better between the two Nvidias because its Dual. And well from what I know, I take it the ATI would be the least best between the three?

I'm looking at three different laptops here and those were the graphic card specs for them. And I'am curious what one would have the best and least graphics. (Taking in account that both Nvidias dont get upgraged and both stay at 512MB video memory)

My order from best to worst would be: ( Please Correct me if im wrong :) )

1.Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT SLI
2.NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS
3.ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2400 XT

Here's the links to the laptops.

I wouldn't touch the Radeon...

All three setups have downpoints, the 8600 (512MB) should be enough for a medium/high mix of settings for most games (My old setup for my desktop had a 8600 256, and it could handle COD4 on mostly high...). I wouldn't go above 14x9 (or 14x7, whatever the setting is) widescreen though.

If I recall correctly, I believe the 9500 was a cripple to begin with. 2x 8600's should destroy it either way, as the 9600 (which is better) is simply a re-branded version of the 8800 GTS.

The HD 2400 is just getting on at this point.

Take the SLI, its a no contest.

Actually #1 most likely is one of the ""questionable"" nVidia-based graphics that suffer “thermal stress”.

Not sure about #2 - IIRC nVidia has never identified specific chips concerning the thermal issues.

#3 would be less for gaming but would off-load h264 processing from the cpu.

The 8600 SLI is the fastest of the ones you listed... hands down.

The 9500 is pretty much a refresh of the 8600... but there's only one of them instead of the two in the SLI setup.

The 2400? Ha. Have fun gaming on THAT thing.

Me? I got a reasonably priced laptop with an 8800 GTS... in terms of performance it's similar to a 9600 GT desktop card. World's fastest mobile GPU? Nope. But it really hit the sweet spot (for me) in terms of price and performance.

Jesus Christ... I just clicked on the first laptop you linked... in that price range there are much better laptops. You should definitely be looking at that Gateway FX... they've recently upgraded the specs on it and it absolutely dominates that Toshiba.

For Gaming Laptops, the two best priced at the moment seem to be Gateway and HP.

The Gateway has an 9800GTS mobel that is very inexpensive with a nice CPU and overall setup. My biggest concern is actually the low price :>>
I've read about some overheating concerns and it did not have a very rugged feel when I looked at it in person.

HP has a model you can build at their website that comes with an 9600GT.
Not nearly as fast, but faster than anything you listed. The HP had a better feel than either.

Myself, I'm still holding out for a Dell but I feel their current models are a little dated and I'm waiting for an updated model release. I prefer Dell with my Laptops because they are the only ones who offer On-Site Service and guarenteed quick repair turn-around time. For me, that is important because I use my laptops heavily. My Last Dell had the MousePad Buttons replaced from enthusiastic gaming, mobo replaced from a water spill, and the CPU/GPU fans because they were noisey and likely gonig bad.

The Dell Studio 17" has a HD3650 card which is "ok" and can be found relatively cheap., but yet another step down. I would not consider it a gaming card for current tough games, but OK for older titles, WOW, and other stuff that is not too heavy.
