Laptop won't do anything

Hi. So I updated my laptop this morning and now when I start it, it just goes to the desktop and shows the loading cursor. I can't start any programs or do anything. Sometimes it does let me click things but when I try to start any programs (outlook, avast etc) I get the loading cursor again and the program doesn't load and the pc basically freezes.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this? It's windows 10.

Can you check your cpu usage and ram usage, when you say update do you mean you updated to windows 10 ?
