I have an Acer Aspire E 15 E5-571 running Windows 10.
My screen broke a few minutes ago so I have it hooked up to a monitor via VGA (Monitor doesn't have HDMI).
Problem is every time I start up, my monitor is blank until the windows login screen which means I can't access BIOS.
Things I've tried:

-Running in safe mode. (Screen stays dark)
-Restarting through _System - Recovery - Troubleshoot_ (Screen stays dark)
-Lowering resolution.
-Connecting the laptop to my TV via HDMI. (Still nothing until login screen)
-Tested Monitor on another laptop running windows 7 and it works perfectly.
- Pressing F2 on start up (Also tried f12 and delete)

From this I've gathered it has something to do with the laptop but I have no idea what, any idea's?

Solution
It's an idiosyncrasy of your laptop. It sounds like it won't output to anything externally until drivers are loaded (which there are none outside of the OS). This is common on some laptops, doesn't mean it's defective, just inhibiting.

So there's no possible way of me accessing the BIOS short of buying another screen?

It does sound that way to me. Your hardware seems to be working just fine otherwise. I can only assume the system won't send a video signal to external screens until the driver has loaded.
