Laptop won't sleep/shut down after updating Intel Driver.

A few ago I updated all of my drivers, and afterwards noticed that my laptop no longer shuts down/sleeps properly - the fan stays on, or even speeds up, and it does not wake up when I press the power button, I have to force-shutdown the machine and boot it again.

The reason I am assuming it is linked to the Intel Driver, is because I tried disabling the driver from Device Manager, however by doing so, even the screen won't switch off - it "glows black". So Intel Driver has to be related somehow.

I already tried temporarily uninstalling the driver, or picking an earlier driver version, but the issue persists so I don't know what else to try.
Rolling Windows back to an earlier state is not possible, because the only restore point is after the driver update - god knows why.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi

Is this a new laptop with win 10 supplied by Dell ?
Or
Updated from win 7 or 8 or 8.1?

You have listed the intel graphics driver
Did you upgrade drivers from Dell web site or Intel web site

Normally for laptops you get drivers from manufacturer such as Dell, Toshiba etc

What model laptop model ?
Normally you should give this when asking for help
Look at label on base

Finally have you made a recovery disk set using Dell utility?

In order to fix this it may be quicker for you to backup all important data
Then do a re install of windows, taking advanced option to format drive letter C: (windows drive) before re installing windows.

It originally came with Windows 8 (instantly upgraded to 8.1) and around August I upgraded it to Win 10, without any issues back then.
I used the Dell auto-detect utility to update my drivers.

Model: CKWF602 --> http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/CKWF602/drivers

And I have not made a recovery disk. Resetting to factory defaults is an option, but one that I would like to leave to be the last choice.

Hy , I have a dell inspiron 3542 , I installed a ssd in place of hdd , and put the hdd in a caddy in place of dvd-writer , I'm facing the same problem as yours ( fans still goying , and I need to force shut down).

I installed win 10 (stick boot) , and it installed his drivers automaticly , should I reinstall all the drivers from dell ?

Did you managed to get a solution to this problem.

Thanks.

At some point I uninstalled everything Intel related - every audio/wireless/video card and chipset I could find. Then reinstalled them from http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Products/?app=drivers.
This did fix my issue for a week, but then Windows pushed a driver update, which brought the problem back again (Darnit, Microsoft!).
I tried that fix again, but this time it did not work. I am still messing around with Intel drivers and I can only suggest you do the same, as the solution might be in installing all the drivers correctly in correct order.

hy, I searched for driver update for each item from "device manager" and updated a driver intel related , and also found a bios update , this didn't solved my problem , I think I will try to reinstall all drivers as you sayd , my biggest concern is that this started to happen after I upgraded from a hdd to a ssd and that hdd ...

Anyway , thanks for answers .
