Laptops with no disc drive!

I'm getting a new laptop and it doesn't have a optical drive.... so how would I get things like Microsoft Word or Powerpoint, and norton internet sercurity.

Just about everything can be installed via USB, or a simple exe in a download.

As USSAFRet says - most can be obtained as files from downloads but if you really need - you can ofc get a USB external DVD player/burner .. for those odd occasions when someone sends you a DVD of your relatives wedding etc..
