Question Last time I used my laptop it was discharging

Hello there,am Elvis.The last time I was using my laptop it indicated "discharging".I took the power adapter I have been using for check up and I was told that I was subjected to short circuit.I was forced to buy new laptop adapter for my model but it still cannot power it on but the adapter shows power indicater.The adapter carries 19 v the same power the laptop input.What could be the issue?

It refer to laptop's battrie , you must change it.
