LED lights behave strangely

I have the same problem as melvyn said, power and battery led lights both continuously blink at an interval of 5 seconds. I thought it was charging. But the laptop won't power up even after long time. Is this a problem?

Can't answer without more information. And we have no idea who Melvyn is or exactly what issue he was having.

press the power button for at least 30seconds

try:
Performing a static discharge of the mainboard:

Unplug your AC adapter and remove your battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds and then release the button.
Plug in the AC adapter again, put the battery back and power on the system.
