Lenovo e220s/ e420s thinkpad recovery

The lenovo edge e220s recovery partition cannot burn to disk less than the file size of 9 gb. So I used a usb disk.. but trying to restore it dont read from usb; even @ f12 usb is selected fr boot. I tried to copy to a external hardisk (but the cbd file want to reformat and all data on external dusk will be erased (am I right). Or can I make another drive on same external harddisk. But any way I try use somebodys empty external drive but still the factory recovery dont want to copy. What to do. This is a win7, i5. Thankyou

Start from the beginning. Why can't you just boot directly to the recovery partition? And what did you use to make the boot disk?
You can't just copy the partition info to a disk, it has to be made bootable.
