Hi Everyone,

I've been browsing the web and came across your forum and I found better support here than where I have been so here is to my first forum signup :bounce:

So basically, my problem is that my Lenovo G405 won't POST, battery and power light is lighting up and DVD-ROM is working; and just to ensure that I am not being lazy and asked away without doing anything here is what I did:

1.) Take away the battery and pressing the power button for 30 seconds to test if static discharge is the problem. <- didn't worked.

2.) Took out CMOS battery for 30 second <- didn't worked.

2.) Took out all hardware and adding them one by one to test if they are faulty. <- didn't work.

3.) Checked and cleaned USB ports, power connector, LAN and video port for short circuited connectors or faulty soldering. <- Found nothing to suggest it is the problem.

4.) Basically disassembled the whole laptop to look for physical internal damage <- Nothing found.

The screen is just blank. Power and battery light is on. The only thing I found weird is that it turns on the fan for a few seconds and then it stops running (fan). Power and battery light is still turned on suggesting that it is not overheating issue, just don't know what it is.

Anyone out there that could probably help me troubleshoot this problem? And please for those who would suggest I send this to Lenovo Service Center, don't. I have more faith in this forum than paying exorbitant fees for service that just basically swaps defective parts.

Solution
Considering the AMD components, I'd say probably cold solder joints on the GPU, as many AMD laptops suffer from this. A reflow of the board would be a temporary solution, but ultimately you would have to replace the motherboard. Next time, go Intel.
