The Lenovo Z510 that I'm looking at is $579. The G510 I'm looking at is $629. It looks like the only difference between these is the G510 has an I7 and a 6 cell battery vs the I5 and 4 cell in the Z510. Oh, the G510 has win 8.1 and only win 8 for z510. It looks like the G series has buttons near the touch pad which is nice. This will be mainly used for school work and the occasional game of league of legends. Is the $50 worth the better processor and 6cell battery? Also, is there another $500-$600 laptop that would be better? I've searched Asus, acer, toshiba websites and I didn't really find much else.

TL/DR: clicky links, which is better bang for the buck? Any better recommendations?

If you're looking at a budget laptop mainly for gaming. then Intel HD Graphics may not be sufficient. You should go for AMD APU-Based laptops with much superior graphics and hence good gaming performance.

This Acer V5-552G-X852 offers great value for money (with HD8750M Graphics, much better than INTEL HD):

And, Among G series and Z series, Z series have better build quality and it's worth going for a faster processor.

This will be used mainly for school. I might play the occasional game, but i have a desktop for games. You said the build quality is better for the z series? How so? Also the G series has the faster processor.

Oh. Sorry, I made a typo... G series have better build quality and it's worth going for a faster processor.
