Lenovo Ideapad 500 Laptop vs ASUS X555LA Laptop?

Hi,
I m stuck between which laptop to choose out of the two, which would be more durable and can handle whatever things are thrown at it better.

Lenovo Ideapad 500:

It is difficult to say which laptop is more durable because both have plastic chassis and they would be simply be considered to have average durability. Simply stated you generally will not know how durable a laptop will be unless it is stated in a review.

There are laptops as are classified as semi-rugged laptop and rugged; but they are relatively expense. Semi-rugged laptops would be something like the business class ThinkPad T460 which in US has a starting price of around $850. An example of rugged laptops are Panasonic's Toughbook which can really take a beating, but they are large, heavy and expensive; probably have a starting price of $1,800 in the US.

Getting back to the two laptops, the Lenovo IdeaPad 500 has better specs. It has a Skylake i7-6500u as opposed to the slightly older i7-5500u, but the performance difference is rather small. The biggest difference is the IdeaPad 500 which has a dedicate Radeon R7 M360 as opposed to the Asus which relies on the Intel HD 5500 graphics core.

I'd go the Lenova, having the dedicated GPU (2GB) provides better graphic capabilities and isn't using up your system DRAM like the Asus iGPU will. As far as reliability and durability they are pretty much a toss, these are the two brands I look to first when recommending laptops
