Hi guys,

I was just a single click before purchasing Z710.
It has all specifications I need, but the last moment I realized it has a Glare display!

So I went on searching on new product, Z70-80.
This appears to be the latest Lenovo version, have an anti-glare display, but the specifications are worse.
So, why did Lenovo downgrade processor and disk on their new model?

Z710: Intel Core i7-4710MQ quad core (2,5GHz L3 6MB) Max turbo frequency 3,5 GHz
Z70-80: Intel Core i7-5500U (2.40 GHz, L3 4MB) Max Turbo Frequency 3 GHz

Z710: SSHD 1TB SATA 2 (3 Gbit/s), 5400rpm + 8GB SSD
Z70-80: 1TB SATA 2 (3 Gbit/s), 5400rpm

Thank you for answers,
Tadej

The Z70-80 is the most recent version of the Z70 series which means it uses Intel's most current CPUs; the 5th generation Broadwell CPUs. Intel does not make any quad core Broadwell generation mobile CPUs.

Also, the Z70-80 has the more recent nVidia 840m vs. the older nVidia 745m.

The lack of a 8GB SSD cache is likely to reduce the price, but there are models of the Z70-80 with the 8GB SSD cache integrated inside the hard drive. The Z70-80 is generally less expensive than the Z710 since they only have dual core CPUs. If you want a quad core Intel CPU, then stick with the Z710.

I would, but it only comes with glossy display :(
I wonder if new dual core is noticeable slower than quad code.

I don't really care about SSD cache since I'll replace HDD with SSD anyway.

ps. Z710 is cheaper than new Z70-80

Which is most programs these days, right?

Can you recommend any other laptop in 800€ range with quad i7 and FHD 17.3" Display?
I was looking at MSI but they don't sell them in our country, and I don't really wanna have US keyboard layout.

Most programs do not use more than two core. If you are going to be using programs that you know will be using more than two core, then that is a different matter.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with where to search for laptops in Europe. Since the Euro is used in about 20 European countries it makes it even more difficult because different models are offered in different countries. I have problems looking for good laptops in the US with an anti-glare (matte finish) screen outside of business laptops.
