Lenovo laptop boot/graphic questions

Hello. I have two questions regarding my new Lenovo laptop. First one is about boot and second about graphic.

So, today I got my new laptop. I have 8.1 installed on it. When I turn on laptop, first time I get black screen, and nothing is happening. When I turn it off and turn on again, everything boots just fine. What's going on?

Second. I have installed graphic driver, since it has r5 m330, but is there a way to make that one as default graphic, or system automatically choose which one to use, depending on situation?

P.S. Now I have installed win 7 and it boots normally every time. What can cause win 8.1 to behave like that? Maybe UEFI mode? Since I was using legacy. Now I'm downloading iso so I can install it in UEFI.
