Hey,

I'm about to buy a thinkpad and was set on t480s (1400eur). Than I saw X1 carbon costs 200eur more.

Would you get X1 over t480s? They seem to be the same laptop, just slightly thinner on the X1 side.

I've heard great things about the X1. Seen some good user reviews also. Hopefully, someone on TH actually has it and can share some experiences here.

@offtopic: However, for that money, you could also go for a Dell.

The XPS series has become a great value with the recent price drop. Think about it. You get an 8gen intel proc, 8GB ram, 256GB m2 and a 1050 for that money. If you add a couple hundred bucks you get a 1050ti and a proc upgrade.

It's a whole other brand, I know. I'm just putting it out there as a suggestion with a sharp pricing of the XPS nowadays.

Thanks for your answer.

Dells aren't all that cheaper and I've used quite a few thinkpads over the years (the latest one being T560).

Screens aren't the best, but they do the job. As for the performance, I want the 8th gen processor, but don't need the GPU. Just something reliable and nice to use.
