I want to ask you if you had an experience with the lenovo y50 base model .
Core i7 gtx860 2gb 1tb 5400 rpm hdd with 8gb ssd .
Is it a reliable laptop and how would it run with games and upcoming games?
Thank you for your replies guys. Im looking now at an affordable laptop . Its the new pavillion 17inch . Comes with a core i7 6709hq a gtx960m 4gb gddr5 and 16gb ddr4 ram with a 1tb 7200rpm hdd and a 128gb ssd . The price is around 1150$ .
That's a bad price for what you are getting. These two are a major performance increase. The GTX 1050 Ti (laptop) will deliver 40% to 50% higher FPS at the same settings, has a larger SSD and faster CPU. It will play games at high to ultra settings which the GTX 960m will only play at low to medium. The GTX 1060 (laptop) delivers 50% to 65% higher FPS than the 960m or 20% to 30% higher FPS than the GTX 1050 Ti. Most games should play at Ultra with the GTX 1060 and High with the 1050 Ti.
There is no GTX 860. There is a GTX 860m. If your intention is to play Battlefield 1, Witcher 3, Ashes of Singularity and upcoming graphically demanding titles. Performance will be very bad if they play at all. You'll be looking at low settings and still have stuttering or choppy gameplay. If you are looking at playing simple games like League of Legends or Sherlock Holmes. It'll do fine.
For demanding games you will want at least a Core i7-6700HQ and GeForce GTX 970m. Preferably a Core i7-6820HK and GeForce GTX 1060 (laptop) 6GB.
If you can wait the 7th Generation Kaby Lake i7 laptops should be out soon and have a very serious clock boost. In which case an i7-7700HQ/7820HQ/7920HQ would be good choices. Along with a GeForce GTX 1060/1070/1080.
Unfortunately laptop gaming is expensive. The entry level for good performance has come down quite a bit from last year. From $1600 to about $1150. You can still get way more for your money if you build a gaming desktop and just get a cheap and simple laptop/tablet for your portable needs.
GTX 1050Ti offers performance on par with former GTX970M, so you're good to go with that one if you want to play recent games in FHD. 60 fps will not always be reached on high, but be somewhere between 30 and 60. At least more than enough to play fluently.

Why did I list both if the GTX 1060 3GB is faster than the GTX 1050 Ti and costs less? It's due to the fact that most people use their computer for more than just gaming. For everyday use the 1050 Ti model will be much faster. The CPU is a little faster. It also has a 256GB SSD. Which will provide a huge boost in load times of OS and software.
