Hello,
I am a university student for a Masters program. I booked a Lenovo Y500 on 17th July for 897$ with the following specs:
3rd gen i7 3630 QM
1 TB HDD + 16 GB SSD
8 GB DDR3 RAM
15.6" 1920 x 1080 full HD LED glossy wedge display
NVIDIA GeForce GT650M GDDR5 2GB
6 cell lithium ion battery
Rest of the specs are standard like 802.11 b/g/n etc.

The problem is that Lenovo have put out a estimated shipping date of 12th August and delivery date of 14th August. That is way too late for me, and there's no way I can have them speed up the delivery.

Frustrated, I checked Toshiba and found a really good deal. They have a model Satellite P50-ABT2G22 that has been launched recently I believe. Booked it for 895$. Specs:
Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz) with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology
Windows 8
8GB DDR3L 1600MHz (4GB + 4GB)
1TB (5400rpm, Serial ATA)
2GB GDDR3 NVIDIA ® GeForce® GT 740M with Optimus™ Technology
15.6" FHD TruBrite® LED Backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
Wi-Fi® Wireless networking (802.11a/g/n)+ Bluetooth® 4.0 (300 Mbps)
4 cell lithium ion battery.

This comes with a free Laptop carry bag too. Est ship date is 2nd August.

The main differences I see are: Toshiba comes with Haswell 4th gen processor and WiDi capable. Plus the screen is Matte finished.
Lenovo comes with 3rd gen Ivy bridge, but has a 16 gig SSD.
Also, Lenovo weighs 6 lbs while Toshiba weighs 5.3 and comes with a free bag!

Could you please help me decide whether its worth waiting for the Lenovo or should I cancel it asap and keep the Toshiba? I am worried that if Lenovo delay the shipping even by a day I will be in a major soup.

Which brand is better and which offers the best after sales service? Please help me decide.

Thanks!
