Hi all!

My asus G53sw died this week after almos 7 years of loyal service :wahoo:
I am looking for a good laptop in a similar way. I will use it for 3d modeling (Revit), Some image design and not too heavy gaming (LoL CS and some ocasional game).

These are my options. They are very similar to each other, I have read many reviews about them, and some comments about your point of view will be really helpful:

Acer VX5
-I7 7700HQ
-8gb RAM
-GTX1050 (4gB)
-Display TN (1920x1080)
-512gB SSD (space for a HDD)

850€

HP Omen 15
-I7 7700HQ
-8gb RAM
-GTX1050 (2gB)
-Display IPS (1920x1080)
-1tB HDD (space for a SSD)

700€

Lenovo Y520
-I7 7700HQ
-8gb RAM
-GTX1050 (4gB)
-Display IPS (1920x1080)
-1tB HDD (space for a SSD)

790€

Omen has a superprice, but GTX1050 with only 2gB worries me. Appart from that i had bad experiences with an HP in the past

Acer is great, but the TN display can be bad. Anyway I will use it 90% time at my home, so I could buy a 22" screen

Thank you for your comments

Well after considering your requirements ,if u can spend Some More Money then apart from these choices I will suggest u to consider acer Nitro 5 Spin 2017 refresh Model With 8th Gen Core I7 processor and 256 gb Ssd + 1 tb Hdd ,8 gb Ddr4 ram ,Gtx 1050 4gb . Fhd Ips Touchscreen And 4 laptop Modes Just 2.2 kg Weight And 10 hrs Battery Life . Its The Thing U Need . Hq Series I7 is Great But In The Options U Mentioned Above Have Heating Issues With It As It Heats Up Pretty Quickly.

hey i can answer your ques hope u didnt buy it. i have been looking for 2 years. budget was a thing i finally gave up on my older hp amd a8 processor and came down to the best laptop for the money. it came down to 3 brands that took the stage with performance, quality, and budget, that was asus acer and lenovo and i can add DELL. so at the time dell was behind but now they have updated it but i was looking for minimum 1050 ti since i also want to game so i needed the best. dell was more expensive and acer was good too but the asus i bought it and returned it due to the battery life and 1050 and not to mention the build quality, very poor bends in the back looks cool but had to return it. For 1300 CAD on sale lenovo legion y520 was the best bang for the buck.
LENOVO has taken the throne for 2017 best laptop in reviews, service, quality, performance and money and this legion y520 had a 1060 3gb max q with all maxed out including 128gb ssd. everything in this laptop is amazing from the build quality, looks, speakers, red backlit keyboard, nvidia 1060,screen ,battery life is decent still average browsing 4 hours and 1 to 1 n half hour gaming which is decent amazing thermal system dual fan with extreme cooling mode too and not to mention its vr ready so it will be virtual reality compatible.got it give it hands down to this laptop better than the base alienware. very satisfied with my purchase for under 1500.
doesnt heat up its solid thermal cooling same goes for graphics card this is underestimated

Hi, myself was a vivid fan of ASUS.
I got my A53 for 6 yrs now and planning to replace it too. I recommend G53 to my friend as well a while back. All was ASUS for me. Until i decided to replace my current laptop and look for ASUS gaming laptop. Then i saw GL553 which was the counterpart of Lenovo Y520. I saw Omen 15 too, but it doesnt has any particular point that interest me. Also, my company had HP laptops and most of them broke around 2-3 years after usage - i understand we used it heavyly but still ... - Back to GL553 The keyboard set up was bouncy - seems to be made from plastic. Which is really dissapointing for me for my fav laptop maker. Not to mention the 1050 vs 1060. So i end up buying Lenovo Y520 with Nvidia GTX1060 - Y520-15IKBM. If you dont have that kind of variant there, you need to know Lenovo battery life is very poor. So if you are choosing Lenovo, you need to offset yourself with whatever plus side Lenovo variant have over there. There are Lenovo Y520 variant with GTX 1050Ti also. 1050Ti ranks no 48 on futuremark
visit this : https://www.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu
1060 ranks on 30 while plain GTX 1050 ranks around 56. I myself would rather go with the highest rating of video card. After all, its gaming rig right ? :p

If i choose between SSD and normal HDD, i will go with SSD. whatever the size its like 10x faster than normal HDD .
You can simply unplug your old HDD and put it into 10 $ external HD casing.
In this comparison you gave us, you need to choose the ACER. but if you have 1050Ti and 1060 Lenovo variant, go with Lenovo. And somehow ask the seller to interchange the HDD with SSD. 128 gb is better than nothing :p

Update: I forget to mention this Lenovo 1060 is Max Q variant. Its slower than original 1060 but 10% faster than 1050Ti, and almost 80% faster than plain old 1050
