LG 1080p television advertises HDR10 technology..

I just purchased an LG 1080p television that advertises HDR10 compliant. What does this mean? Can any regular blu ray viewing be improved by this tv? Does the source need to be produced with HDR10 content in order to see a difference or do I have to view downsampled 4k source disc to enjoy HDR on my 1080p tv? Any ideas?

Thanks jsmithepa. Then it's pretty much useless for me who watches DVDs, standard Blurays? The only way I can take advantage of the higher dynamic range seems to be Netflix streaming for some shows/movies.
