LG 8000

I have a LG 8000 phone and I am looking for a USB cable to connect from the
phone to a PC for internet access & Data. I went to my local Verizon store
and the person I talked to really did not know what I was talking about. He
kept trying to sell me mobile web on the phone. ( Which I already have and
Vcast). Then he kept telling me that I can send pick's to my computer from
the phone. I know that verizon has a kit with software to hook it up to a
pc, but no one knew what I am talking about.

You need to ask for the "mobile office kit" for your model phone.

You have Vcast? How is it? Sprint's equivalent service, MobiTV, sounds like
it's no big deal, and I assume Vcast is the same way. How wonderful could
streaming video be on a 96x84 or 128x84 screen?

I like the Vcast. I get the Vcast from Cincinnati Ohio. I am on the very
edge of the service. I only get 2 bars on the EVDO signal viewing Vcast. I
did not know that Sprint has Mobile TV app like Verizon????? That is a new
one on me.

As with most data services, Sprint had it long before Verizon.

If I'm not mistaken, the "MobiTV" service on Sprint rides on their
version of the 1XRTT network. The new service from VZW rides on their
EVDO network.

That's because Sprint didn't originally plan on even launching EVDO. They were
going to wait and go straight to EVDV, but they've changed their minds. Note my
use of the word "most." Verizon obviously beat Sprint to the punch on EVDO.

You'll notice, if you go to the URL listed above, that MobiTV has low-bandwidth
and high-bandwidth versions of the service. Most of the Sprint phones listed
are not EVDO phones, although I'm sure there are a couple of EVDO products
being tested on their network now. They're all PCS Vision phones, and Vision is
1xRTT. So I'd imagine Sprint is using the low-bandwidth service.

Futuredial makes software that can do what you want. HOWEVER, they do not
support the LG VX8000. YET. I wrote them asking if they would be
supporting it and they said yes but didn't give me a date. You can
periodically check their website at www.futuredial.com to see when they do
indeed add support for the 8000.

Don't forget to look at http/www.datapilot.com/ and examine their
offerings. They claim to support the VX8000 today.

The vx8000 is substantially similar to the vx7000. It is identical
for the phonebook, and has longer filenames for for wallpaper and
ringtones.
