LG, Other TV Makers Form Smart TV Alliance for Apps

This will only be successful if they all get on board. If the big boys don't join it has little chance of accomplishing it's goal.

They only need Samsung and Sony. After that, others won't have a choice except join. I'm guessing if there was someone that wouldn't join this alliance is probably Apple's future smart TVs. They want their own ecosystem apart from everyone else.
 
I don't understand why they just don't move to an Android OS in modern TV's. The license is free, and the CPU in most modern TV's should have enough horsepower to run a limited version of Android.
