Nice! Though the 3840x2160 feels a little low for an 84" screen. It would have been best if it had an eyefinity grade resolution(7680x3200)

That's 16:10. TVs are 16:9. So 7680x4320. (4320p)

I am not sure why this is news, we can get 2560x1600 on a 30 inch panel, which makes 3840x2160 really horrible. Now an 84 inch panel with the pixel density of the 30 in panel might be exciting.

DO you think I should write a letter to LG to ask them for a free 84" TV for my class at school ?

Why do they bother with the higher resolution? There isnt any content other than PC than can saturate all the pixels that thing has. And my guess is that anyone who has enough money to buy one of these, doesnt have enough knowledge about resolutions and why his xbox will only use 720 of 2160 available lines, or why does that matter.

With a panel that large the high resolution is almost mandantory to enjoy the picture unless you are sitting 30' away (distance pulled out my butt)

Um, you would never sit as close to the 84 inch because you'd only see a fraction of the image. And with bigger viewing distance the resolution requirement goes down. Commercial movie theaters use 4K projectors, and their screens are "a little" bigger than 84 inch.

Besides, where is a 3D-capable 30 inch monitor? I'm waiting and waiting, but none gets released.

You have to start somewhere. Need the hardware to advance the content. I am pretty sure there wasn't much content for HDTV 10 years ago either, but you could buy one at an exorbitant price.
