Hi, we have a LG UHD TV 4K, model # 55UH615A-UC and would like to hook it up to our older Technics stereo system which has RCA jacks. I used the audio stereo jacks from the TV to the stereo but it does not work. There is not a head phone jack to plug in from the TV to the stereo either only a SVC jack and I take it that's for a service jack to analyze the TV? There is a Optical Digital Audio Out, so is there a cord I could use from there to the RCA jacks? Thank you for the input.
Yes, I've checked the TV menu and it has 4 settings for sound out: Internal TV Speaker, Optical/HDMI ARC, LG Sound Sync (Optical) and Internal TV Speaker + Audio Out (Optical). None of these worked when I plugged in to the TV to the Stereo and tried each one. There isn't any setting for RCA Jacks. Also there is no Optical Jack or HDMI on the stereo just RCA Jacks.
The TV doesn't have RCA audio outputs (only inputs).
You need an optical to analog converter. Simpler than using HDMI-ARC and you don't lose an input.
You can set the TV audio to output to the optical output alone or leave the option of using the TV speakers active. That way if you did not want to use the stereo you would just turn the TV volume up. The TV remote will not affect the volume of the stereo.
