Not a huge issue. I'm more concerned with it being super light weight and portable.

1920 x 1080 would be preferable, but not necessary. Battery life and wifi card strength is more important.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Again, yes, it needs to be portable - but does not need to replace my desktop. Just for coding, maybe watching movies, but not so much gaming.
5. How much battery life do you need?
Extremely long battery life ideally.
(Some Lenovo laptops interest me for this reason - dual batteries and all that can be swapped out.)
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
The only game I would play is probably Combat Arms. Ideally on High, but not necessary
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Programming, watching movies, web surfing

DVD reader and writer ideally, but could get by without it.

I don't really know. Lenovo seems reliable enough, but warranties in general don't seem as long as they used to be. One of the laptops that I want the most - the new Carbon X1 Thinkpad - it only seems to offer a 1 year warranty from Lenovo. Not sure what kind of costs I could incur after that year, though I'm very careful with my things.
I'm tempted by the Fangbook because it has a built in mechanical keyboard - it'd be very comfortable, and frankly it's cool looking... but I bet it runs hot, and the battery life is 3-5 hours at best. Not long enough for me. More than that, I DON'T need a desktop replacement - only something to program on, something with a very good battery, surf the web reliably on, and maybe watch videos on.
I don't really like Mac because it seems extremely overpriced for what you get compared to Lenovo or other major brands. I concede that I may be interested in getting one since the school I work for only uses Macs, and because I may need a Mac to program iPhone games on... but I would probably mostly bootcamp into Windows for my programming anyway, if I got it.

I already have a laptop that I bought in 2008, but the screen is failing, the sound doesn't work, the Wifi card is unreliable (it says there are 30 of our internet connections when there's really only one - confusing, and it disconnects at times), it's really heavy at 17 inches, etc. It's just not portable, and it's falling apart. I feel like it's wasteful to buy a new laptop, but I also don't want to sink money into a new screen that may or may not work, a new wifi card (if it's even an option), etc when there are multiple things wrong with it.
More than that, I'm almost tempted to buy a budget laptop, but if I do, I know it'll have a long boot time, probably not have a great wifi card, and may not even last me ~3 years. I feel like splurging a bit is worth it in this case, but I may be convinced otherwise. Again though, it needs to be very lightweight, and would be nice if it has an extremely long battery life.
