I have a GPS, but I still use Google Maps to see where I am going before I leave. I like to have a mental image of the route and the surrounding area around my destination. I only use the GPS to make sure I don't miss a turn when driving on long trips on county roads where signs are few and far between or if a road is closed and I need to detour.

[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]I just don't understand why someone would be willing to spend $150 -> $1000 on a GPS unit when a $20 paper map and a phone book (that is usually provided for free by the phone company/city) works just as well, if not better.[/citation]

Top 5 reasons to own a GPS and throw away the paper map:

1. GPS doesn't require you to drive and manipulate a paper map at the same time.
2. Maps go out of date and can't be updated without buying new maps.
3. Maps don't talk.
4. Maps don't do traffic.
5. Maps can't tell you exactly where you are at any given time.

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]thanks but no thanks...cell phone gps sucks and aren't very accurate at all...ill stick with my garmin[/citation]
most generally people forget to update thier garmin/gps devices, my phone is always up to date. I've seen two instances lately where a gps unit has been off and my phone was spot on.

I'll stick with the phone 😉

All who have embraced technology fail when it fails. Learn the simple basic rules of navigating and you will arrive at your destination. Man (women too) have been doing it for a long time without a GPS. Get EDU it will save you money and possibly you life.

[citation][nom]house70[/nom]the Irony is strong with this one...[/citation]

There was no irony there, but it was oozing with sarcasm.
