Budget: 100-250$

Source: 3.5"

Requirements for Isolation: Some isolation, open-ness is more important than isolation. I travel a bit (bus+plane), but mostly on my PC

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Rarely, but yes.

Preferred Type of Headphone: Over ear, large.

Preferred tonal balance: Balanced, crisp. Movies + acoustic rock + some games (no FPS)

Past headphones:

AudioTechnica m50x: uncomfortable, heavy
HifiMan Edition S: amazingly comfortable, average-good sound, brittle (broke), would buy again
Razer Kraken 7.1: overpriced junk, terribly heavy, drivers lose connection.
Preferred Music: Zeppelin, Metallica, some ambient jazz, some ambient electronic

What would you like to improve on from your set-up: What are you looking for going into your next headphone? Crispier sound, more durable. Basically a better and more durable HifiMan S

Extra: was looking at the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2, Sony MDR-1A and Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-Ear. Thoughts?

I already saw that, but I don't think it's for me. Too generic, not tailored considering my needs and experiences. The list is about extras and features, not quality, comfort and durability. I don't care about noise cancelling, just want a comfy quality headset

The Sennheiser HD 6XX from Massdrop is an HD 650 for $199. They drop a few times a year and are available right now. Best value in the headphone world. You will need an amp to get anywhere near the potential of these. The scaling is legendary. This drop is close to over with about 400 units left. The huge downside is they wouldn't ship until August. But the value is amazing.

For a brighter sound the Massdrop K7XX is also worth considering at the same price.( also a red version )

The Sony MDR 1A has been on sale around $150 recently. Warm and bassy without much treble presence is my impression on those. Probably not the 'crisp' you're looking for.

My personal recommendation is the Sennheiser HD 600. It just surpasses your budget at $285 and it will need an amp.

I have 600s and 650s and I honestly prefer the 600s. They're more neutral and less laid back than the 650/6XX with a smaller soundstage. I can see the 650/6XX being called 'veiled' due to the warm tint but not the 600s. There are hundreds of reviews and comparisons out there by people with more knowledge than me so I suggest a little reading as to which you'd like best. As many or more people like the 650/6XX better.

Heyo errantchef

I have to agree with @anort3 and his recommendations.

However if you want to check out a pretty reputable guy, check out Zeo's recommendations here:
