I'm not really good at searching for computers to buy and up to now all of my computers have been low budget ones with not so great capabilities. This will be the first time in my life that will I buy an expensive, hopefully high-end laptop that is worth every penny.
So can anyone please help me search for a good gaming laptop?
I have my eyes on this laptop right now

I'm content with the i7 CPU, 8gb ram is fine and the 1TB HDD is good too, but I'm not sure if the GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M is "good enough". My budget was originally $1000, but on my uncertainty if it was good or not my mom told me that since I'm buying an expensive laptop a few hundred extra dollars were fine to get a REALLY GOOD laptop.

Can anyone please tell me if I should get the laptop above or if there's an even better laptop within my budget? Thank you very much!

This is one the best choices as a gaming laptop having an unparalleled price to performance ratio and integrating a lot of useful features which span beyond a gaming ready portable machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-3630QM which is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and a 750 GB hard drive for storage.

Well, here's the problem. To get a laptop that's amazing for gaming, you're going to have to spend even more.

Here's my question. What's this going to be used for? If it's for school, I'd suggest getting a refurb for about $200, and then building a desktop with what's left - even a $3000 gaming laptop is beat, hands down, by a $1000 desktop.

You should be able to play even newer demanding games on at least low settings (bit don't expect much more than that), you could also play virtually every older game (2+ yes) on medium to high. If you are looking for something with a better graphics card the Lenovo Y580 ($860) has a GTX660M (but only has a 15.6 in. screen If that matters to you). http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/ideapad/y-series/y580/
