I'm looking for a good gaming laptop under $3000, and was thinking about the Razer Blade but need some confirmation.

Also, could i get suggestions for an ultra-portable laptop under $1500.

As for the "ultra-portable", I find them ultra-unusable for my needs, so will limit my comments to workstation / gaming laptops. We need workstation capable lappies in the field on construction sites and they make great gaming laptops. We have each one custom built to our specifications awhich also saves us money.

CLEVO is a large Taiwanese computer company specializing in laptops. While the Clevo brand name is perhaps not widely known, their products are re-branded and sold by known boutique brand OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)… notably Sager, VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest, Eurocom, etc. They are also considered (by whoever knows about notebooks) to design and manufacturer the best of the best notebooks in terms of superior build quality and innovative designs.

We have been getting ours here for about 8 years.... b aware that all Clevo distributors are prohibited from advertising prices below a certain price floor ... once on the hone, they can negotiate any deal they want.

Also recommend paying by business check rather than credit card to save another 3% or so.

When custom built, the sky is the limit as the saying goes and you can even do SLI.

Heard of Alienware ? They made Alienware laptops until the company got so big Dell bought them and now they
"just Dell" ... who farms the actual building out to companies you never heard of. The brands you have "heard of" actually don't even make a single laptop.

The vast majority of laptops on the market are manufactured by a small handful of Taiwan-based Original Design Manufacturers (ODM), although their production bases are located mostly in mainland China.

Major relationships include:

Quanta sells to (among others) HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Sony, Fujitsu and NEC
Compal sells to (among others) Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo and HP/Compaq
Wistron (former manufacturing & design division of Acer) sells to Dell, Acer, Lenovo and HP
Inventec sells to Toshiba, HP, Dell and Lenovo
Pegatron sells to Asus, Toshiba, Apple, Dell and Acer
Foxconn sells to Asus, Dell, HP and Apple
Flextronics (former Arima Computer Corporation notebook division) sells to HP
