Looking for a good ultrabook for university

I've recently started university, and I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 700 from costco . I'm not completely satisfied with it, and it flickers when I use it in tablet mode (which isn't often, but bothersome enough). I'd like to get something similar from Costco, or at least get a model from a reputable company. I'm looking to spend less than $1000; if it's better for me to go over that amount, I will probably just get a macbook. I'd like it to have similar or better specs than the 700, but reading reviews for the various models leaves me questioning which spec quality I should sacrifice. I mainly use the device for programing, data processing, and I will probably need it for video/audio editing down the road (due to the nature of my major). Any advice/articles/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for your time.

For that purpose I would recommend getting a laptop with a full cpu (not the u or y cpus), 8 or more gigs of ram, an ssd since you are doing video editing and a very good screen.
