Hey guys,

I'm looking for the best gaming headset with or without a mic. Also should I get a sound card with the headset or would an amp be just fine ??? maybe both ??

Sorry I'm not the greatest with computer's I just love my video games :)

I can spend up to around the $350 range as a bundle or even just on the headset if it's worth it.

Thanks in advanced !

They have a fairly low impedance of 42ohms so an amp wouldn't be needed to drive them. A soundcard is just a DAC with possibly a virtual surround sound software. It will not affect the bass assuming your onboard DAC is decent.

If you wanted to hear more bass you could play around with your equalizer and mimic a bass booster preset.

They are both the same headphone and use the same drivers. The AD 700 is the original pair and is built more durable than the ATH ADG1/AD700x.

The AD700x is the newer version of the AD700 and the ATHADG1 is the headset version of the AD700x. Not worth it imo since it costs three times as much as the AD700x just to get a built in mic .

The AD700x will be cheaper than the AD700 since they are still in production while the AD700 is discontinued. Unless you're buying them used.

They are open back and have a wide soundstage which makes them a great choice for picking up positional queues in games. Both produce very clear and detailed sound. They are bass light however so keep that in mind. Also since they are open back they will leak sound and everyone in the room will be able to hear you. They are meant for use in a quiet/isolated environment.

If you're looking for noise cancellation an open back pair of headphones is the exact opposite of what you want

Do you need headphones with noise cancellation or ones that use noise isolation? They are two different things. The latter of which usually has better audio quality.

Well that's the dilemma I want something that gives out great bass but with quality sound ( so I can hear foot step's or ship's being summoned ex the small stuff you typical don't hear ) that is isolated so my girlfriend doesn't hear the sound while I am gaming ( she's in the same room watching tv about 10 feet away from me )

You both have been great help !! :) I just ordered them on amazon :) I'll post back once I get them !!! I'm glad my MoBo is good enough and I don't have to spend money on an amp or Sound card even though I would have hehe

Thank's again !!

It took a while but I received the ATH-900x about two weeks ago !! I just wanted to really use them before I made a review !

After wearing them for a few weeks I got to say these are quite impressive !! Very light on the head, and I like the new wing feature ( well new to me at least ) on these headphone's ! I can wear them for hour' and not feel the stress on my ear's or anything like that ! The ear cushions are very very comfy but I find that my ear's tend to get a little hot if I'm pumping the bass on them !

it has a very nice and long cord ( I think about 9 feet which is outstanding to have ! )

The sound on these headphone's are just so impressive ! I feel like it such a nice balance between bass ( which isn't heavy but just enough where my ear don't bleed which is nice ) and the music !

I use them for music however I mainly use them for gaming, and oh wow I hear every little step or bullet that is being shot around or near me ! Even in none-fps game's I hear thing's I would never hear with a shitty or even normal pair of headphone's.

All in all I ended up getting these for about $200 Canadian and I think I got my money's worth hand's down !! Thanks for recommending them !
