It seems the vast majority of laptops are quad core. Ive been searching for 6 or 8 core processor, but not having much luck finding this on a laptop. It seems MSI only offers 4 core i7's. Sworks flow sim has the option of selecting how many cores to use to run simulations. This should leave the remaining cores free to do other daily tasks while the simulation runs in the background. Then, all cores can be used to speed up the simulation run etc.. So, I want to at least price a couple of laptops. It would require a quadro video card, 32GB ram and at least a 512SSD. I'm open for recommendations.

There are no mobile Intel (or AMD) CPUs with more than 4 cores.

The only 6 / 8 core Intel CPU are categorized as "high end desktop CPUs". The lowest end 7th gen model is the i7-6800k; it has a TDP rating of 140w which means it needs a massive heatsink to cool down. My best guess is that it will need to have a heatsink weighing in at 800g or 1.76 bls and lots of airflow to keep the CPU cool.

In comparison, the most powerful 7th gen quad core Intel mobile CPU is the i7-7920HQ CPU which has a 45w TDP rating.
