Looking for a Laptop

I am currently a high school student at a Science and Technology oriented high school, and I am taking a computer science class and would really like to be able to bring my laptop to and from school. However, my current laptop is a huge bulky 17 inch thing that doesn't fit in my backpack or in any bags. I'm looking for a laptop with a screen on the smaller side and rather light, but also not a chromebook because I need to be able to run Eclipse and Java on it. At least 300 GB is preferred of HDD and RAM doesn't matter that much as long as it can run basic programs without a problem. What is a good laptop for these conditions? Please help me out. Thanks!

What's your price range? There are a lot of options out there - do you have a brand preference? Do you want it to have a dedicated video card? Do you card are screen resolution?
