In the West, these days TV with HDMI good.

If your cable system is analog just about any TV will work.
If your cable system is digital you would need a TV with a QUAM tuner built in. You would only be able to watch unencrypted channels. Might not be any. Many cable companies offer digital adapter boxes at lower cost than full function cable boxes. Check with your provider as to what channels are available without a box of any kind.
