Recently I've bought Sennheiser HD439 headphones.I am satisfied with my purchase as these Cans delivers great sound. The only problem is that the HD439 delivers low volume with my devices eg my cellphone(which is a nokia lumia) and my PC.I want your opinion on whether I should buy a sound card for my PC(and which sound card to buy) or should I get a portable amp or a regular one. Please recommend the best option among the three(sound card,ac powered amp or a portable amp).My budget is $100.I just want loudness in my music without sacrificing the audio quality.

Also, what are your thoughts about Beats by Dre.

if you intend to keep the am for awhile and in the future want to try out harder to drive headphones i'd spend the extra money and get the a3 (which is based on the older e10). sure the e6 might work but if you ever upgrade to something nicer you would have to re-buy an amp. for the what $20 difference i'd upgrade now and save yourself headache. but yes, as long as you realize its limitations the e6 is not bad.

as for your buddy?
hd439, possibly with the bass mod

or, possibly the hd429 with the bass mod.
beats by dre are overmarketed overhyped junk with questionable build quality. sure, some people may like them for the bass output but what you pay for them is far too much for what you get and you could get the same bass output on something cheaper.

since you want to use the 439 on both portable and pc the fiio e6 or a3 are what i would suggest looking at. given the price difference, the a3 is the better deal.

Thanks ssddx.Your recommendations are great and frankly speaking,it matches my original budget. Also you clear my doubts about FiiO E6.And I 100% agree on your opinion on Beats.

One more thing. My friend wants to buy Headphones that can deliver heavy base. His budget $60

Thank you for your suggestion.Actually he was going for celebrity brands like beats so I told him that there are far greater headphones than those brands.he listened music on beats before so he thinks that they are superior to my sennheiser since base output of beats is stronger than sennheiser. He prefers base over quality.
