Sounds like you just need to load the USB 3.0 drivers. Have you checked the Sony website for available drivers?

If it's running Windows 7, the USB 3.0 driver from the support page in COLGeek's link is required. Windows 8 has native USB 3.0 driver support, so you shouldn't need to download it if that's the case, but you may need to reload the chipset driver.
