I am looking to purchase a camcorder to capture demonstrations indoors. Lighting would be overhead fluorescent or perhaps localized incandescent. Not talking about nightime or shadows.

I would like high definition (1080) and would like the output to be MPEG-4. The camera doesn't have to be this year's model and I would hope to find one under $200.00 new or refurbished.

What I'm asking in this post is the brand names and model numbers I should be looking at. Have been looking at the Sony 440 and the Canon R700.

What I have read so far--If I understand the specs correctly, the Sony doesn't output mp4 at 1080 and the Canon is not so great in low light.

Leaning towards towards the Canon but thought I would run it past the forum to get any other input.

Oh! And I need a tripod mount as well.

thanks

Why does it have to be MP4? You can convert to MP4 from any free or even online convertor.

Well, you're right. So what've you got in the way of suggestions? I'm wanting alternatives.
