looking for local channels on hd tv without cable

Trying to bring in local channels with my hd tv without cable. Have been without tv because of no cable or internet. What can I do in order to get these. Someone suggested your site to ask. Help please

First step would be to go to http/www.antennaweb.org/ and find out what channels are available in your area.
Next would be to connect an antenna to your HDTV (either an existing exterior/roof-mounted or interior antenna).
Last would be to scan for channels.

What kind of antenna do you suggest? Or just simple rabbit ears

If you have a set of rabbit ears available, I would try those first. If not, then just about any indoor antenna should suffice. Personally. I wouldn't spend more than about $40 for one.
