Hi Im looking for a laptop that would suit my budget and my needs. I'm a practicing civil engineer. I prefer a laptop that would work well with AutoCad and Civil 3D.

it would be much better if you specify your EXACT budget.
However, by low budget, it could be around 500$.

If you need more power than integrated graphics can provide, a GeForce or Radeon card can still do those tasks pretty well for a lower price than Quadro or FirePro cards.

Don't buy anything from HP/Compaq and don't bother with Ideapads as they are plastic junk, look for a real business class laptop even if it is used.

While you shouldn't bother with IdeaPads, ThinkPads are still well build and good business laptops. However, the good ones are a fair way out of your price range.
