Looking for low budget soundbar that balances whispering dialogue and loud explosions

I am constantly adjusting the the volume when watching movies at night to avoid waking up my parents. Is there a soundbar that is both cheap and simple and can balance the soft and loud sounds? Is there a way to connect this soundbar to both the TV and PS3 so I don't have to constantly switch wires? I believe I only have one HDMI port on my TV.

You are looking for sound-bar with dHDMI inputs with pass-thru video to TV. These don't come cheap (something like $200), and I have yet to see one with equalizer (so you can kill low-frequency where explosions are but boos mid frequencies where dialog is).

These money will buy you a decent brand-name receiver, they have more advanced sound processing, and some of them even have bluetooth so you can stream from your phone as well. (but you will also need a pair or two of speakers).
