My father's birthday is coming up and I want to give him a nice laptop. He does not game at all. He mainly uses it to watch videos and surf the web so a laptop with decent sound quality would be a bonus. I would also like something reliable that can last a few years. Screen size I am looking for anything from 14"-16". High resolution would be good (1366x768, 1600x900 or 1920x1080). I am not too worried about battery life as he will have it plugged in most of the time. My budget is less than $750, it would be awesome if I could get a few different options, for example, an option that costs $500, $600, $700, etc.

Also, he would prefer if the laptop was Windows 7.

That should be fine.
I wouldn't buy it. The AMD E series CPU is pretty weak. It is an entry level CPU and while good enough now your dad my find it will be a bit sluggish in the future. The performance level would be similar to mainstream CPUs released around 5 years ago. It's not bad for the price and if your dad really is just going to use for watching videos and surfing the it should be good enough.
