hmm i have first edition sennheiser pc 350 and i see they are using 150 ohm?

i would technically like to use 7.1 and have great audio behind it too.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132006 that was basically what i was gonna go for at first but then i saw theres no amp and was suggested against it.

and pointed toward this

now id just like advice from people who actually know soundcard/amplifiers because im clearly new in this and everyone i speak to about this are too.

do i need an actual amp for my pc 350 or not will they even benefit (hear) the 7.1?

are there cheaper alternative? (whenever i look at stand alone amp they look kinda complicated too tbh)

I don't see anything about those headsets being 7.1 ones. Your motherboard should be outputting pretty good audio, you are not happy with it? It has 7.1 support.

Realtek® ALC892 codec
High Definition Audio
2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
Support for S/PDIF Out

Any 7.1 effects with that headset will be virtual.
Not sure what you think is complicated about a headphone amp, one cable goes to the computer, headphones go into the amp connector.
