Losing the guide

I've had a DSR922 for several years now (2000??, 2001??). Mostly it's
worked fine until the last few months.

About 4 or 5 months ago we started having digital breakup on some of the
channels, particularly on G1 with channels lower than about 140 or so. This
has gotten a little worse even though I checked my alignment and changed my
LNB from a 20° HEMT to a 15° High Stability one thinking that age and heat
had taken it's toll. For the most part, this had no effect on the breakup
making it neither better or worse.

This is annoying, but now a new problem has cropped up.

I lose my guide at least 2-3 times every evening. I have to go back to G0
and request the guide, which it gets, then ask for info on a channel, which
it also gets, then it works as normal for a few hours when it loses it
again.

I've tried unplugging and leaving unplugged for 30 minutes. I have not
tried a master reset and reprogram all satellites. It does not lose the
satellites as a rule, although for some reason it lost C4 the other day, but
normally that doesn't happen.

I have auto update enabled and up to this time it's worked fine and I've
normally had at least 2 days of program information available on the guide.

Any thoughts on what's going on here? Is the internal battery on the unit
dying? I don't see how that could be a problem with it turned on, and I'm
not needing new authorizations since that part of the memory is being
retained. Is there something that I can try that I'm missing? It's pretty
annoying to have to do this several times an evening.

Call your programming provider and verify that your receiver is
authorized for the IPG.

Well, I'm SUPPOSED to be, but when I wasn't a year or two ago for a while, I
couldn't get the guide at all, now I get it and loose it. Will it receive
the guide and lose it if I"m not authorized for it?

I guess it won't hurt to give them a call.
